Wonder

I love seeing wonder in my kid’s eyes. Without question my favorite part about being a parent is that I have a front-row seat for each moment of discovery. Every overturned rock, every walk through the woods, and every tidal pool is a new world to explore. What’s more, for now, my kids are even happier sharing these moments with me. I can usually hear it coming. It typically begins with the kids calling my name repeatedly in a crescendo of exhilaration. This is my signal that something special is about to happen.

The great thing about excitement is that it’s infectious. So it doesn’t matter that I’ve seen a thousand snowfalls in my life because when I’m with them as they see their first snowflakes fall it’s like I’m seeing it for the first time too.  And you know what?  It IS pretty wonderful.
