Taking Flight

Yesterday morning as I sat languorously with a cup of coffee, my wife told me that there was a pretty fog in the neighborhood. Sure enough, it was a picturesque morning so I scooped up the camera and a few lenses and set out.  I took quite a few shots not far from our house and then made my way home to help with breakfast.  When I got home I arrived to heartbroken sobs from my son who informed me that he was very hurt that I hadn’t taken him with me.

A six year-old can cry in at least two different ways.  There’s the fake, whiny, I-didn’t-get-my-way-so-I’m-going-to-wear-you-down-until-I-do cry and then there’s the truly, deeply, wounded cry of a boy that wanted to hang out with dad doing something cool.  Realizing I was witnessing the second variety, I loaded up the car with my gear, my son clutching his little camera and my daughter who decided that this seemed like a pretty good adventure.

We photographed ducks, dragonflies and flowers; it was a perfect way to start the day.  The second round of shots turned out far better than the first and I had a really special moment with the kids.

Thanks for visiting my blog Christopher.

Gotta say that I think that your son deserves at least an ice-cream, if by dragging you out for a second time you took this beautiful picture. Well done to both of you.
