Simple Pleasures

Here are some of mine:  a hand tossed pizza pie, Horton Hears a Who by Dr. Seuss, my daughter’s hugs, sunrise, wine bargains, a great work of science fiction, Friday nights, kisses from my wife, the sound of a shutter release, a good laugh with my best friend, my son’s smile, DVRs, meeting new photography friends, strolling the neighborhood, a good cup of coffee, a walk in the woods, chatting with my parents, rain, Belgian ales, my Nan’s apple pie, my Nan’s blueberry pie, my Nan’s Rhubarb pie, the smell of the ocean, the scientific method, finding the shot, Indian food, Photoshop, Christmas, and being called “Daddy”.

What are some of yours?

Skill and concentration…talk about capturing the moment. Love it. And, I have to say, prefer it in colour. ;-D

Thanks Alexandra! You crack me up–love your purist consistency!

Being in a great location with my camera amidst wonderful skies, re-reading Asimov’s Robot/Foundation series, Emerson’s grin (my one and only grandchild, a good pint of Guinness in Slim’s Pub.

I could go on and on and on….

Each of those sounds fantastic George, thanks! Man I love that Foundation series…and a good pub.

Wow, what a great shot and post (is that Johnny Depp?) You are blessed with so many wonderful simple pleasures. I can tell you enjoy life. This post is a good idea. I’ll have to make one too, to take a few minutes and list some simple pleasures. That would be fun :^)

Look forward to it–thank you Doug!

Now that is great timing. I like the concentration on his face and the pizza sizes available in the foreground. Excellent shot.

Thanks Sherri! That’s a fun thing to do for kids.

Love this list. Each item is so simple..so easily overlooked. You’ve found a way to find true gratitude and appreciation for the everyday! And – what a fun image. Terrific!

    Thanks so much Marcie!

You’ve made a good reminder that we should really value so many seemingly insignificant things in our lives that make our existence much sweeter. We just need to stop and think about them from time to time.

I like the picture and the intensity on the pizza chef’s face. I do have to wonder though, is the non-alcoholic beer only made drinkable by the price?

Thanks Phil–much appreciated! Couldn’t agree more on the fake beer.

You’ve managed to put a smile on my face after a rather trying week. THANK YOU for this to help me keep things in perspective.

Thanks Michael. I hope next week is smooth sailing.

The original color version was cool too, both cinematic, love your compo and this image brings a smile : growing older (each day, can you believe that ?? ;) the most simple things are my fav now. Springtime first days as the light wind caresses your cheek and the flowers heads for instance right now, and too many things i can’t tell here – they are so numerous, you’ll find one of my fav in my post today & the quote to go with. Life is so precious, isn’t it ? Enjoy*

    Thank you so much k@!

A beautiful composition. A beautiful photo of the daily life of this person.
Small pleasures? All those who are harmless and are of great simplicity throughout the day. If we are to retain: a bite of chocolate and sit comfortably on the sofa when the kids are in bed …

    Merci Beaucoup Olivier!

I just stumbled upon this picture and it impressed me, especially the way it captures the attention the pizzaiolo pays to his work.
