Muppeticide

I was visiting a school for the arts some time ago and came across this eerie scene.  These puppets, once stars in a television show, now largely sit on a shelf in the school awaiting use by the adult students.  The image makes me sad in a Velveteen Rabbit/Toy Story sort of way.  I can’t help but feel that these puppets feel lonely and under-appreciated now that they’ve been almost forgotten.  At one time they were animated and lifelike; they made children laugh.

Now they pretty much just creep people out.

This image is a bit disturbing – those puppets look like half dead toys covered in plastic!

Couldn’t agree more–in fact, I’m a little worried about myself for taking it! :-)
