Milestones

Milestones are important; they give us a sense of order, of accomplishment. This post, for instance, has the distinction of being my 100th on Being In Focus. Unquestionably I feel good about this milestone but it pales in comparison to another that happens to coincide. Ten years ago today, for reasons that remain a complete mystery, this beautiful woman married me. On a gorgeous day atop the rolling hills of Sonoma County and overlooking endless vineyards we exchanged vows before a tiny group of our family and closest friends. Though amazing, that was really just a moment; our marriage was crafted in the days and years that followed.

Along the way we’ve come to know the tiniest things about each other–things no one else on earth is privy to. Good and bad, those little morsels help to forever link us. My wife has been at my side for most of  my happiest days; because of our shared journey they’re her moments too and her joys have become mine. We’ve also been together through the darkest nights, holding hands and drawing strength from one another. Sure, there have been tears but ours is a home filled mainly with laughter. Together we’ve made two amazing children and a family that brims with love, happiness and a great deal of silly dancing. I can tell you with all honesty, I’ve never been a part of anything more special, more important than this.

Thank you Sweets, for every moment and for giving me this most wonderful life.

Congratulations! Beautiful words and a beautiful woman! There is a thought that we as photographers have the power to leave an imprint on our images – the very essence of our feelings that can be communicated via the photograph. This has that intangible quality.

Thanks so much Michael. I’ve often felt that we get two glimpses when we see an image. A glimpse into the life of the subject and a glimpse into the life of the photographer. Cheers!

9.am in Paris, it’s raining, gloomy sky and you bring such a sun in, thanks to your heart-warming post, Christopher. I don’t know you apart from your blog but i don’t really wonder why she married you : you both seem to be so sunny. This portrait is wonderful because beyond her very natural beauty you caught her vibrant & radiant soul, just like she’s able to catch (sweetly too) yours. Ah, thanks for that beautiful blue sky you offer to a parisian in a february morning, man ! ;) And congrats both for your 100th post & how you run your family fab life. Hugs to the 4 of U****

Your words mean so much to me–thank you very much k@
