Keep Off

Photography is a little bit corrupting.  I find myself bending the rules a bit as I search for the shot.  Normally I’m a straight-laced, law-abiding, oft-apologizing Canadian expat but when I pull the camera out I’ve noticed a different personality takes control.  I become a brash, confident, devil-may-care, rule-breaker and I have to confess, I like it just a little bit.  So no, Mr. Man, I won’t stay off your jetty.  I will get the shot even if imperiled; I will, in fact, break your rules as I pursue the ultimate capture.  I laugh at your silly warning signs.  I am a photographer!

[This is not a binding pledge and the author reserves the right to, in every way, fail to live up to the above rhetoric and to revert to prudent caution when appropriate.]

I really like the composition of this photo. It’s so serene, then there’s that scolding sign, like a foreboding Twilight scene – cool!
