Integument III

Dear Kids,

There are so many things that I love about this life of wonderment you’ve given your mom and me. I love DDD or Daddy-Daughter Day when I get to pick up my little girl from kindergarden to go get frozen yogurt–just the two of us and some yummy frozen yogurt…and a few brownie bits but don’t tell Mommy. I love looking up at the night sky with my boy with the hope of seeing a meteor slicing through the atmosphere. I love that you think the best part is staying up past your bedtime. I love the sounds of your voices during play softly drifting my way; you say things that sound so grownup and then things that sound so innocent. I love how hardly a day goes by without you asking if we can visit Grandma and Grandpop in Canada. I love that every night we sit down together to have dinner. I love finding out about your day. I love that you both insist on helping me whisk the eggs every single morning.  I love all these things but I think my very favorite thing might be when we dance, one big crazy family dancing to cheesy 80s music until we collapse in one giant, happy heap. I really love it when we dance.

Love,
Dad

Thanks for the letter Chris. There are so many patterns in this picture that if you had even half an imagination you can see lots of stuff in here.

I remember the fun dancing with my kids when they were little. But I still dance with them. I danced silly dancing with my daughter recently at a friend’s wedding, and truly made a fool of myself. But my daughter, at 23, laughed, and laughed, and laughed. Others laughed too, but I couldn’t tell if it was at me, or with me. Your image reminds me of a National Geographic aerial photograph of a desert rock formation. Beautiful color and texture. This is truly cool!

Your kids are really lucky… :) Parents nowadays usually find it hard just to spare time… And if that is a wall, it’s seriously cool and has an old look to it.
