Hidden

I love sleuthing for hidden things. Whether it’s a mysterious diagnosis concealed deep within a baffling patient history, a vista enjoyed by few before me, or a bargain bottle of great wine, the hunt for the unexpected is exciting. I think this helps to explain the great joy I derive from exploring abstract photography. My brain has been programmed for most of my life to look through the camera lens in a certain way and abstract photography is forcing new neurons to fire. Searching for colors, forms, shapes and textures rather than documenting the real form of an object or scene has been challenging to say the least…but oh so fun.

Still exploring the great State of California with my family so I’ll be posting sporadically over the next few weeks. Now that I’ve got a solid internet connection and the pace of our travels has slowed I should be able to visit my favorite photoblogs with greater consistency. Have a great week everybody!

I’m really digging your abstract series. This one has such great rhythm and tone. (And it has a good beat and you can dance to it!)

Sometimes I think that all of life is made up of small abstracts and patterns that have merged into something greater than themselves. It’s interesting to sift through them and attempt to look at things on a different scale. Enjoy your time with your family. Nice photo!

Your abstracts are wonderful. This one has a bit of an optical illusion, as the lines seem to vibrate where light and shadow come together. That’s pretty cool. I love the pursuit. Figuring out the puzzle parts of composition. It is my favorite part of photography :^)
