Girl Theory

Mouseover to see the Original RAW

I have a theory. Those who know me have heard it too many times to count and I doubt many would complain if I were to just give it a rest…but not today! I was reminded of my theory this weekend. We went camping with friends at one of California’s beautiful state beaches and had glorious weather. Nice enough, in fact, for my wife to don a bathing suit. Now she’ll vigorously dispute this but here’s the simple truth:  my wife is a hottie. She’s the kind of hottie that’s really too hottie for me. I kind of married up. She’ll dispute that too and I love her for it but it’s true.

So here’s my theory. It’s very advantageous for a man to be just nerdy enough to make attracting the attention of girls/women quite challenging. This nerdiness must persist through the teen years and should last at least until the mid twenties. The nerd will benefit in two ways from this. First, he will not peak in high school. Many a man has been his most popular, most athletic and most handsome during his teenage years. These men often get the girl(s) quite readily and some even choose too quickly to settle down with the most popular girl in school. This brings me to the second benefit. It’s really easy to be pretty in high school. It’s an entirely different thing to be drop-dead gorgeous in your thirties, forties and beyond. The nerd who finally gains popularity in his late twenties because he’s made something of himself and has finally figured out that perfectly replicating a GAP mannequin’s wardrobe is in no way a good idea, actually gets to date women who have shown themselves to be true, lasting beauties both inside and out.

So that’s it really. Be kind of nerdy. That’s a lot shorter actually. Another thing that helps is finding a woman who will let you post a before, unedited macro of her face on your photoblog. If you find her, well, she’s a keeper.

Hehe, thanks for the grin with your tender (as usual) text and nice beach view through your beloved eyes reflecting your cool w-e pause. Love the destructuration of the body proposed here, with those sunny legs in an original angle inside the head ! ;)

:-) Thank you very much k@–the child in the distance is my daughter btw!

A very original framing a particular vision and always beautiful treatment. A nice idea to see in the eyes of his wife …

    Merci beaucoup Olivier!

I forgot to mention that women in their 50′s, 60′s and beyond are true beauties as well.

Kala, you’re so right and that was the sentiment I was going for; I just stated it poorly. Didn’t mean to suggest that beauty ends in the thirties and forties. The post has been edited slightly to better reflect my feelings. :-)

I’m a believer, Chris. With I often credit my nerdy youth to helping me know who I am today. Cheer to late bloomers!

    Cheers to that my friend!

Love your seaside work, Chris. You prove with your photos that it’s never the same place twice. Great creative framing.

Also, I’m highly in favor of your theory. Woe to he (or she) who peaks in high school. This world is the playground of the former nerd.

Thanks Corinna–at the risk of sounding too 80s…nerds rule!

Thank you so much Klaus. I first saw the pre/post process option on your site and immediately loved it. I agree with you on post–some may disagree but for me it’s an incredibly important and enjoyable part of the process.

Hi Christopher …. you’re absolute right – it’s a challenge being beautiful the hole life. Beautiful means to me, being the lovely human known from the beginning to the end. But it’s also a great evidence, if you love this human transformed by changes of life … this could be love, or?

Thank you Matthew, you’re right–when we love, the beauty just grows in spite of time

An interesting i’ll have to think, though i’m a bit too much old to get some benefit from it :)
And once more a surprising post-processing applied to this beach’s photography.

    Thanks PixeLuz–appreciate that!

What a cool shot! Love the composition and depth of field choice. Gee…it’s a long way away from beach weather here but I can see what is coming up in a few months.
    Great as always :)

Thanks so much blue! Stay strong–perhaps the wait will make it all the sweeter.

Excellent and creative imagery Christopher. Praise and honor for all the nerds who land the hotties! Hmm, I’ve been pretty much the nerdy, goof ball, dorky, odd bird type all my life. Lucky for me I married up too. My wife loves me in spite of all my quirkiness, although it does test her patience at times :^)

I’m in the same boat–I can’t tell if she loves me in spite of, or because of my nerdiness. Thanks very much Doug!

It all goes to prove the old adage that opposites attract Chris. And two hotties in the house would be an egotistical nightmare – not that I’m suggesting that your hottie half is egotistical, but you know what I mean!

But well done on getting an interesting and more unusual shot of the lady in question…

Perhaps you’re right George and it’s a yin/yang thing. Any way you slice it I benefit! Thanks so much!
