We spent the weekend around the coast to get away from the blistering heat and so that the kids could have some fun. It was a nice weekend and for the first time in nearly a month I was feeling well enough to get up before everyone for a walk with my camera. I didn’t stray far fearing that the kids would wake up and begin pouncing on my wife–she needed rest as much as I did. I found a few things to shoot but the hotel felt a little too planned-out to be really interesting; instead I wandered into a construction area nearby. What I noticed about the site was that it had numerous examples of simple shapes so I set about looking for images with geometrics as a theme.
Here’s the first of a few shots I took that morning before anyone in my family stirred. This is a stack of pipes that I got down to ground-level to shoot. I’m glad that they’re not perfectly aligned; some fall outside my depth of field and some are perfectly in focus. To me it gives the photograph a more three-dimensional feel. It’s a simple shot but I like looking at it.
