Dreams Of My Daughter

You are my Button. Time moves on and no matter how hard I wish to the contrary, you will grow up  before my eyes. In spite of your inevitable metamorphosis I know a few things will never change.

You will confound yet make the world seem simpler, more clear. You will have a fire in you that some may shy from but you will be a fiercely loyal friend for those who dare hold you close. You will be serious when necessary but smile at just the right moment and that will change everything. You will infuriate with your stubbornness but in the end you will be magically in the right; I’m not sure but I think that may have something to do with your smile. You will dazzle with your intelligence but never make others feel smaller for it. You will eschew sentimentality but will make exceptions for your schmaltzy father. You will be prudent and cautious but for those who stay the course you will love deeply and intensely. Someday a kind young man will find you and he will, in an instant, know all of these things and swear to protect them forever. He will love you completely and will call you by a sweet new name but long after that and forever in my heart, you will be my Button.

*Sigh.* Beautiful words from a loving dad. Us girls need to know our dads love us like this. Your daughter sounds like quite a person!

Also I really love this picture. It’s such a good idea, and beautifully executed.

This is one of the most beautiful portraits I´ve ever seen. And the words are so warm and breathtaking.

For me it´s a symbol for everything a loving father has the luck to experience. You met them on their day of birth, see them growing up and one day, which comes to fast, the little girl meet´s a boy and you´re no more the most important man in their live.

The only things you can hold are the blured memories of a wounderful time which has gone. But deep in our hearts we never lost our little girls.

Thanks for showing that fantastic picture, the mood and the memories.

Being father to a gorgeous daughter, i dont think i will ever forget these words of yours.

    Thank you.
