Into each life a little sun must shine.
I mean after all the emotional rain of the last week my little family really deserves a touch of sun. So, we’ve taken matters into our own hands and have hit the beach. Friday evening we set out in our motorhome for a few days of ocean air, Southern California sun and, hopefully, a mental reset. Yesterday I got up before everyone and went for a walk on the beach. It was a beautiful sunrise and I shared it with one surfer, a couple out for a morning stroll and a whole bunch of hungry pelicans. There are times like last week when the stresses of life, commuting, cost-of-living, school overcrowding and budget shortfalls make me wonder why I live in Southern California. Then there are some mornings like this one that remind me exactly why I do.
I’m experimenting with a new feature I hope you’ll enjoy. From now on, when the image warrants it, you’ll be able to click on the picture to see the original before editing. I hope you like the feature; please let me know what you think.

This photo is simply stunning. Honestly, I often wonder how people (including several good friends) can live in Southern California. But you make a pretty good argument with just this one photo. Hope all your stresses are melting away in your time by the sea.

Thanks very much Ben–it’s really a beautiful spot.
Ah, the sea – it’s a great aid to remove the worries of cosmopolitan life..and is a great healer.
And it helps when you can take a superb sea picture like this, to remind yourself.

Thanks very much George! It really is good for what ails you.
It took me a minute to pick my jaw up off the keyboard. Absolutely stunning photo.
And another reason to celebrate being an early bird! Cheers Chris.
Thank you Michael–very kind. It was such an invigorating moment; to be on this beautiful beach with hardly a soul around was truly exceptional.

A large image of a majestic setting. It’s difficult to translate all the big space into a photograph, but you’ve done it! Also, your get away seems like just what the doctor ordered (needed).

I very much want to visit your part of the world someday Wind. I hear it is full of great beauty. Thank you!
I think this photography is truly fantastic. There are so many elements that are coherently working well here – the staircase that leads the eye down towards the coast; the multiple layers of the wave patterns forming up; and slowly blurring into the vastness and the infinity of the horizon, so aptly leading the eye away towards the unknown infinity of the universe…

Can’t tell you how much I appreciate that Sumedh!
I meant “this photograph”. Sorry for the typographical error. Though the statement is true even for your photography

Thank you Klaus–really appreciate that! We’d love to live on the coast but for now we have to content ourselves with visiting. Someday maybe!
It’s hard to capture big spaces in photography, but with the amazing perspective of the stairs and the three different main color in the image you have taken an stunning photography. Congratulatons. Nice shot!

Thanks so much Mike!

There’s really nothing like a Southern California sunset at the beach, something I just experienced for myself just a couple of weeks ago. The colors and composition transcend my place in time – how I wish to vacation just a little more! A love image and great place to recuperate…
