Steve Jobs (1955-2011)
Every now and again we find a human being who changes everything, who does the unthinkable, who sees things the rest of us can’t. When we lose these people–strangers to us–we feel it much more deeply than expected. We mourn their passing because deep down we fear something very special has vanished from the earth.
It might be a shy poet who lovingly reminded us in anapestic tetrameter that a person’s a person no matter how small. It might be a man who, never having grown up, spent most of his time bringing to life a little frog who taught us our first letters and sang to us the difficulties of being green. It might even be a man who wore a black turtle-neck and whose passion, vision, and genius gave us entirely new ways to experience the world, learn new things, sing new songs, and yes, think different.
I’m comforted though; the best parts haven’t vanished from the earth. There’s a child out there right now who has been inspired; she will do it all again…better.

Don’t go into the light, don’t go into the light!!
absolutely wonderful capture. and the text was beautiful!
This photo gives me chills. The composition, the color, the clarity. It is perfect.
I was surprised at the depth of emotion I felt upon the news of Jobs’ death. This morning as I was processing photos and blogging on my macbook, I realized that his products are beautiful, elegant conduits for my own creative output, small though it may be. He shepherded the vision for these tools which make my life more meaningful.
Yes, we have lost a person who changed everything. And, yes, there are many more who will again. Very nice image.
This is a really beautiful image. The light is gorgeous!
Brilliant composition! Excellent use of light, great tones!
A beautiful tribute, Christopher.
A unique man, a visionary genius and a tyrant responsible.
This photo is beautiful …
Stunning image, simple, elegant. An inspiration.

Beautiful shot, almost spiritual in it’s imagery the way the light looks to be forming a cross on the ceiling and walls.
Lovely tribute & photo, Christopher.
Superb light at the end of the life path, i write that on an iMac – respect *

Inspiring Chris. You have a unique uplifting gift yourself.
nice words!
This is one of the most beautiful tributes I’ve read. Hope and the future abide in the voice of our children!! Thank-you for this…
Indeed, Steve’s passing was a very sad occasion. I just hope that Apple realises that it needs to be led by a visionary – rather than accountant. And from their earlier experiences that there’s more to life and business than the bottom line.
Finally, I have to say top marks for a stunningly beautiful shot…
Wow. excellent!
The words and the picture touched me deeply – both are well composed. Thanks very much for sharing them!
